The Palenque Ancestral Experience takes you to Palenque de San Basilio, the first free African town in the Americas and a living symbol of resistance, identity, and cultural pride.
The experience begins with hotel pick-up, and from the very start, drinks are included, allowing you to relax and enjoy the road while your bilingual host shares stories about Palenque’s powerful legacy.
Once in Palenque, a local native guide welcomes you and leads a walking experience through the town. You’ll visit the iconic Palenque sign, the main square, and key cultural spaces while learning about their unique language, traditions, music, spirituality, taste and ancestral medicine.
You’ll enjoy a traditional dance performance, connect with community stories passed down through generations, and visit the legendary Kid Pambelé boxing gym, where one of Colombia’s greatest champions was born.
The experience closes with a traditional Palenquero lunch and an artisanal local drink, prepared by the community — a true taste of heritage and home.
